Right along one of the edges of the park there is a big, round, pedestrian square, Piazza Sempione, which is actually one of my favorites places in Milan. What I love about Piazza Sempione is its breadth, its cleanliness - I’m not susceptible to the horror vacui! - and its particular shape, reminiscent of an amphitheater. I make the association with a theatre a little because of its round shape, a little for the presence of two big stone steps in its north side, and also because of the presence of what for me is the perfect stage backdrop of a perfect spectacular: The Peace Arc.
But what really drives me crazy about this square is the fact that it is super accessible, super alive and super safe any time of the day and night. Indeed, Piazza Sempione is located in the exact center of a very cool and animated area, one of the trendiest in the city.
Typically, I go there for a beer -- any kind of beer (for me it is usually a Weiss beer!), brought from home or bought there, during - absolutely - any period of the year.
I remember spending some of the best nights with my sister here, nights spent chatting, sitting just on those stone steps, watching the Arch, without any kind of restriction, in total freedom.
