If you’re a museum person but don’t like old-fashioned buzz, you will definitely love the Multimedia Art Museum. It is dedicated to modern art infused with digital technologies, so, apart from being super cool, it also serves as grounds for all things up-to-date, yet historical in some way.
The Multimedia Art Museum is run by Olga Sviblova, a famous Russian art curator who initiated the establishment of the Moscow House of Photography back in 1996. In 2010, this institution was transformed into the Multimedia Art Museum. The basis is the collection of photos taken by Alexander Rodchenko, one of the founders of Russian design and a brilliant photographer known for his vanguard works.
The Multimedia Art Museum also organizes exhibitions where visitors can see quite rare and unique photos and images, such as those by Annie Leibovitz, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and many others. The main thing about the Multimedia Art Museum (or MAMM) is that you can always come and see something curious that you have never seen before.
The other great thing about the MAMM is that they curate this cool initiative of Photo Biennale, which is active every two years, like for even years only. The other initiative ‘Fashion and Style in Photography’ is active for odd years. It’s equally exciting and interesting, so everything you need is just to check their website to be informed and drop by in case you find something suitable for you, on the beautiful MAMM building on Ostozhenka Street in central Moscow.
