Sometimes when we’re visiting a new city with a short and limited amount of time, grabbing a quick bite is all we need to keep going. In this sense, it can be a bit difficult to find some old school Czech street food in Prague, since over the recent years lots of traditional food stands have been closed or substituted by generic kebabs and pizza places. One of the most traditional still stands bravely and deliciously at Náměstí Míru, just a couple of tram stops from the historical center.
The párek v rohlíku (Czech style hot dogs) at Ladislav Červený is a must-try for those who are around the area. Simple, fast, good and cheap. Their only item on the menu is the freshly made hot dogs, which can be topped with a variety of sauces, from black-currant or chili ketchup to horseradish or Dijon mustard. This place is a favorite among locals, who always line up to grab one (often two) before commuting back home.
A heads up, Ladislav Červený is cash only, and it doesn’t open on weekends.
