This is a place for those willing to dive in some Czech specialties, aka hearty meals and outstanding beers. Like Kavárna Šlágr, U Šumavy has this old-time atmosphere inspired by the 1st Republic. Besides being conveniently located in New Town, it has very large rooms and plenty of seats, so you most likely won’t need a reservation to dine in. But I would suggest making it in case you have more than 5 people.
But most importantly, U Šumavy has a great selection of beers which includes not only traditional ones (Plzeň), but also from award-winning craft breweries and their own production (Černokostelecký pivovár). Food wise, you can find a lot of Czech classics, like beef goulash, smažený sýr (fried cheese), schnitzel, and my all-time favourite: potato dumplings filled with smoked meat with sauerkraut on the side. You won’t regret it, it is simply delicious!
