Charming neighborhood cafés abound, but some are more charming than others.
I discovered Bike Friendly Café one day when I set out to explore on foot the side of Prishtina I live close by.
I was lured into the wooden terrace by the beautifully arranged plants, the warm colors of pillows decorating the wooden benches, the nice music emanating from the place, and the buzz of friendly conversations. Oh, and the irresistible aroma of coffee wafting in the air pulling me with an invisible string. The interior of the place is just as tasteful as the terrace. There is a plentiful array of bike-themed decorative items. The warm-glow lampshades cast a comforting glow that washes over the mix-and-match chairs and tables. Plants, books, vases, and lots of other pieces make the café a cozy place to have a coffee, meet up with friends, or work on your laptop.
During my favorite morning routine, there is a large cup of black American coffee with no sugar, a warm butter croissant, I scroll through my social media accounts or flip through a book. The Bike Friendly Café & Shop opened as a meeting point for bikers, cyclists and bike fans but everyone is welcome in their community.
Even I, who never learned how to ride a bike, feel at home.
