Rijeka is not a city with lot of pastry shops, even though it is known for some original sweets. Cacao opened in 2016. At first, people didn't recognise it as a place where you could eat cakes and drink coffee, specially because you can't smoke there. Today, a few years after, it is crowded almost all the time.
In Cacao you can eat delicious ice cream. I recommend the pistachio, but all their flavours are creamy and full of taste. I don't know which cake to recommend, because all are really good. Mostly, I eat the lava cake, the que bueno cake and pistachio mousse. I also just have to recommend the macarons. They're delicious and tasty, not dry. If you are not such a fan of sweets, you can drink coffee, tea or craft beer.
Cacao is a spot for families with kids. It is one of the few places that have a kids playroom. Don't expect a big playroom, but it is enough to keep your kid occupied while you are eating your lava cake.
The interior of Cacao reminds me of a living room, so you will feel like you're eating the best sweets in the comfort of your home.
If you want to be outside, Cacao has a big terrace. During winter time, you can also sit outside near the heaters.
I can't forget to tell you: you can pay with card.
