One of the oh so many things Rotterdam does very well is French fries. So, if you open a chippie called Frites Unique, you can better back it up. Situated at the beautiful Westplein in the Scheepvaasrtkwartier, Frites Unique provides some stiff competition for the Rotterdam French fries scene.
The French fries themselves are crispy and golden, or choose some sweet potato goodness instead. What I love is that you can choose a mix to toss your fries in. A personal favourite is the fresh Parmesan mix -- pair it with truffle mayonnaise and your day gets a whole lot better. Fries with toppings, one word; magic.
The Limousin stew is to die for, but the smoked beef and the Japanese chicken are nothing to snub at either. Vegetarians and vegans are certainly not forgotten. Not only is there quite a few vegetarian and vegan snack including vegan mayo, but the vegan chicken tempura corn is sooo good, I still cannot believe it’s not chicken. The variety of snacks leaves you lost for choice and wondering how many snacks with a portion of fries is socially acceptable.
Being a firm believer that the cheese soufflé is all that is well with the world, Frites Unique’s version does not disappoint. The sandwiches, burgers and satés complete the menu, and not having soft ice is just a waste of an opportunity. Frites Unique will make you uniquely happy indeed.
