This cafe-bakery is located in my neighbourhood and it is where I like to go for fresh bread, and coffee and cakes. I usually go there on Sunday afternoon and indulge into a book in the company of lemon-merengue cake or a cheesecake if that's the mood of the moment.
I like to interact with the clients: often parents who come with their kids for a sweet little something, I notice how determined the kids ;ook when they are asked to choose their treat. They act very adult when it comes to serious subjects like: dessert.
It is small and cozy inside and in the summer there are some seats outside to enjoy the sun. The personnel talks to the clients in a familiar, friendly tone.
They bake fresh bread every day and I can tell you that it's real bread, not what you find in the supermarkets.
Most foreigners that choose the Netherlands as their new home agree that bread can be a painful subject if you settle for the stuff that's on offer at the local grocery store.
That is why, if you find yourself missing REAL bread, Urban Bakery is the place to go.
