If you are a beer lover of any shape or form, BeerGeek is the place for you. The venue was established just over 5 years ago in a different location but has recently been forced to move — due to local legislation about late-night noise, the friendly owner Pyotr was forced to find a new location. From the ashes rises the Phoenix, and so on the site of one of the former locations of the legendary Purga bar the new BeerGeek opened its doors in late February 2020. The bright, white vaulted cellar transports you to days gone by, and there is a room in the back where you can chat in peace if the bar becomes too crowded.
There is a choice of 20 craft beers on tap – mainly Russian, but with a few international breweries represented. This is a small, friendly bar. Locals chat with each other, and the barstaff led as ever by Valentin ‘Head’ will be more than happy to guide you among their vast selection of beers on tap, in bottles or cans. I first visited BeerGeek a few years ago and quickly became a regular. Its cosy ambience and banter is addictive, not to mention enjoying the range of delicious beers. Above that, it’s the people who make it so special.
You don’t have to have a beard to work here, but it seems to help 😉 (Ladies excluded, of course!)
