Have you ever planned to visit a dentist during your vacation abroad? Well, you probably should do so in St.Petersburg. There is a very nice art-nouveau style mansion named after its first host Engineer Chaev close to Petrogradskaya metro station. It was turned into a dental clinic during Soviet times.
Another famous host before the revolution was millionaire Soloviev, famous maecenas and book-seller who lived here with his wife Vera Trefilova - a prima of Mariinsky theater and Dyagilev's Russian Seasons. The interior of the building features the original stairs, stucco ceilings and some other decorative elements.
The winter garden was restored by the doctors and nurses themselves. There is a Chief Medical Officer room in the ballerina boudoir nowadays; the surgery in her bathroom and the orthopedic office in her sleeping room. Amazing?! Another interesting fact is that "the most beautiful dental clinic in Russia" was functioning even 300 days during the city blockade during Second World War. It's definitely worth a visit, do not miss this opportunity!
