Cake and Breakfast opened its doors in summer 2019 and quickly became popular. With its combination of all-day breakfasts, sumptuous cakes and friendly staff it is easy to see why. The cosy interiors add to the appeal and it offers something for everyone – whether you want to spend some quiet time on your laptop, conduct a business meeting, do some language training or just relax with your toddler in the mini play corner – it’s an ideal spot.
The cafe is located on a quiet side street near the Finnish consulate and Preobrazhensky Cathedral. A range of breakfasts are served all day – you can choose full English, or simply omelette with smoked salmon. It’s fine just to have tea or coffee, or to just treat yourself to a cake. There are three large rooms to choose from, and the window seats with a view are always popular. There always seems to be a buzz of activity as local residents and visitors to the neighbourhood pop in for a quick bite or a warming drink. The menu is reasonably priced, with generous portions to match its appeal. It is not unusual for me to visit for different reasons several times a week, for both work and pleasure.
