About me

About me
Born and brought up in Helensburgh on the Clyde Coast, I've lived in Glasgow for 18 years. Worked for Radio 4 in London for 7 years then moved back to Scotland to work in radio and online for BBC Scotland. Escaped after twenty years to freelance as a media producer and write a novel (which I'm still writing).

Why Glasgow?
Because:

  • You'd be hard-pushed to find friendlier people than Glaswegians.
  • It's got one of the best, if not the best music scene in the UK.
  • It's hoaching with quality independent bars and restaurants
  • You won't get lost on the underground

Best cinema in town!

Glasgow Film Theatre is the city's original independent cinema. I like it for the quality films, its film festival and freebies on special days!

Big Slope

West End pub with quality food

"Big Slope" is a basement pub in Glasgow: cosy in winter and a beer garden in summer! The best thing about it is its cocktails and top-notch pub grub...

The Barras

They sell tickets to the moon

"The Barras" market has been a Glasgow institution since the 1920s. Some say it's seen better days, but I still like spending time there on a weekend.

Mother India

Quality curry

"Mother India" Glasgow makes gorgeous food. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough: I've been going there for over eight years; always a pleasure.

Kelvingrove Park

A dear green place

"Kelvingrove Park" is one of the many parks created for the people of Glasgow as a refuge for the appalling living conditions of the Industrial Revolution.
