The Chip is best-known in Glasgow for its high quality Scottish-sourced food and its huge selection of wines, beers and spirits, but that's not why I'm recommending it. I'm recommending it for its treatment of the most maligned of people - the smokers.
In Glasgow, thanks to the smoking ban, you usually find smokers huddled on pavements outside pubs. Not a pleasant experience when it's raining and the wind is blowing a gale.
The Chip is the only place I know in the city that has a roof terrace with an awning that comes out on rainy days and it's heated too!
Of course, this lovely wee space is not for the exclusive use of smokers, it's a great place to sip a drink when it's sunny and look over the rooftops of the West End.
The bar menu has a selection of tasty snacks but if you're not on a budget, treat yourself to a mouthwatering meal in the restaurant downstairs once you've had your nicotine fix.
