While it is foremost a beach to be visited during the warmer months of the year, Pyynikki beach on the coast of Iidesjärvi is worth visiting during the colder months as well, either during the height of winter or during hot summers, because it is just picturesque!
I first discovered this sight of Pyynikki beach by chance, when a friend from Japan visited me and my girlfriend, and wanted to take a walk in the Pyynikki area. After that I have frequently visited Pyynikki beach during the spring and summer months, and it's definitely similar to going to a beach in a South-European country. You don't have to travel very far for a beach day when Pyynikki beach is right there! There are even two beach areas to choose from; one is more like a closed bay while the other one looks out over the open lake.
If you don't like the sand, there is a large, easily climbable rock formation between the two beaches for you to check out. It gives a good view of Iidesjärvi, and it is also a nice spot to have a picnic on or just hang out.
