There are only some record stores left in Finland – I mean shops where you can by music in LPs, CDs & C-cassettes. One of them in Tampere is Levykauppa Äx. We in my family still listen to music sold in these old-fashioned formats, mainly CDs, but we also have LPs and cassettes from the eighties. Levykauppa Äx sells almost all kinds of popular & alternative music, from rock & pop to punk & folk. For classical music, I would search somewhere else, though. There are certain artists we like to listen both live at concerts and then back at home from the CD. Last summer we saw e.g. Ellinoora & JVG, who just won the year 2019 best female artist & best band prizes, in Tammerfest, the annual three-day rock festival in Tampere.
Levykauppa Äx is a cozy little shop that has lots of music to explore. It has a good website, too, and I often like to make an order through it and then collect the purchase from the store for no postal fee.
Just today I went to buy my husband a present: the man known from Finnish rock band ”22-Pistepirkko”, singer-guitarist ”PK Keränen”, published his own first solo album at the end of January 2020. His music’s been playing on the radio and made us curious.
You can go to the shop and look around for new or second-hand music and you may even find something different if you just have the equipment to play it on!
”Tonight we shine like diamonds.” (PK Keränen)
