One of the highlights of The Hague is the Panorama Mesdag, which is a 360-degree painting by Hendrik Willem Mesdag and depicts the view from a dune in Scheveningen by the end of the 19th century. It is definitely worth a visit, but there is also a hidden gem connected to this man.
De Mesdag Collectie is a museum that is located in the house of Hendrik Willem Mesdag and his wife Sientje, adjected to which is also their art gallery (a part of the museum), as they were painters, collectors and traders of art. There are beautiful rooms filled with art from De Haagse School, which is a style that depicts realistic situations, preferably nature, but painted with wider brushstrokes. The house was specially built for their art collection, so the rooms and the artwork really fit together to form an amazing experience. Additionally, there are amazing Japanese and Chinese ceramics and a nice garden in which to relax.
