When I was younger, I once went to a pottery class for a friend's birthday, and I really enjoyed it. Ever since, I have always wanted to do it again, so when this studio opened in Scheveningen, I was really excited. However, as I was busy and life went on, I never went. Until one afternoon, when I decided that the following day was the day to do with excuses, and I would actually go.
You have to book a workshop online and there are two options: you can paint ceramics or you can make your own. I did the latter. There are also options to do a course, and it is a shared workspace if you are more advanced.
The groups are small, and the owner is warm and welcoming. The instructions are clear, and during the instructions, you follow the steps yourself, so you slowly create a small bowl or cup from a hump of clay. After the instructions, there is time to create one or two other things. You can pick one that will be finished and glazed. It is a great activity to unwind and work with your hands. I completely forgot about my phone and the world around me, so I would recommend this activity. However, you have to take into account that your creation takes six weeks to be completely finished.
