Pearl Earring The Hague

The Other Girl with a Pearl

"I think it certainly makes for a cute and spontaneous photo opportunity."
Visiting The Hague on a budget? Can’t be bothered queuing at the Mauritshuis Museum? But you still want to get the most out of your trip and absorb as much art as you can? This might be a solution for you!

Many visitors come to The Hague to marvel at Vermeer’s Meijse met de parel (The girl with a Pearl Earring) painting, which is located in the Mauritshuis Museum if it’s not touring the (museum) world. Iconic to both locals and foreigners, it has become a tourist magnet and merchandise products are available, from Girl with a Pearl Earring socks to Girl with a Pearl Earring rubber ducks.

This spot, which I called The Other Girl with a Pearl Earring (not its official name!), is a magnified version of the painting on a quiet little street corner in central The Hague. You’d miss it if you didn’t know about it! I think it certainly makes for a cute and spontaneous photo opportunity. The other Girl with a Pearl Earring is located on the corner of Molenstraat and Oude Molstraat in the old city center of The Hague. Right opposite the wall art, there’s a cute café called De Oude Mol, a well-known spot for locals. If you grab a table outside, you’ll be looking right at her: The Other Girl with the Pearl Earring.
