Walking around Tirana some months ago, I noticed an electric cabin had a Pikachu painted on it. “Well, that is some unusual graffiti”, I thought. As I kept walking, I noticed more and more painted cabins, which I later found out was an idea started by the municipality. Different painters hired by the municipality were in charge of turning boring cabins into cheerful pieces of art.
While this is not a spot to hang out at, it feels good to walk along the streets and see cartoon characters, Super Mario, The Angry Birds, even Walter White’s face on a big cabin.
It gives the city a colorful twist, something to look at and smile while going through your daily routine.
It worked for me personally, when, on a typical busy and hectic day, I turned my head to the left and saw this cabin that said “Earth without art is just eh”. I couldn’t help but smile and stop to take a picture.
