After a long pause populated by me moving from my parents' house, changing job and life... I got quite hungry. And I also got quite addicted to brunches.
I found two or three places worth an article.
This is the first one.
This spot is in my new neighborhood, Vanchiglia. That's the area right north from Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the city center (see my article "Portici of Turin). It's the new, constantly growing "movida" area of the city. You can find a lot of different entertainment and food proposals from tigelle to noodles, from Czech plates to Mexican plates. Day, evening and night.
BUT: Brunch! It's something quite exotic in Italy. In Barbiturici you can find a biiiiiiig menu, not only avocado, not only club sandwiches.
Pictured you can see half a salmon bread and half a shrimp bread I shared with a friend (we like to pick different things and mix). They were a lot different from the Eggs Benedict pictured above or from the sad avo-toast you can find in a regular bar next to universities (because that's "fancy", dude!).
And also cakes. MAAAAAN! Eat those cakes! Full of flavour, freshly made. Great stuff.
Oh and the place. It's like you happen to go to an old doctor's room (a lot of cabinets, anatomical papers, neon crosses and pills).
Highly recommended: book by phone!
COVID 19 update: check their FB page for special menus, pick up and delivery is active but not every day.
