Almost hidden in a narrow street between the Royal Palace and Via Garibaldi, the main pedestrian street of Turin, you will find Master Sandwich.
In this small paninoteca, literally a "sandwhichery", you can have an authentic and genuinely huge panino. You can either put together your own sandwich by choosing from a long list of ingredients or pick a preset one from the menu.
In addition to the most common fillings like ham, mozzarella cheese, salami, and various sauces (homemade!) they also have an interesting selection of traditional Piedmontese ingredients like Salsiccia di Bra (a typical raw sausage from the county of Cuneo), raw meat seasoned with lemon juice, and Toma cheese.
After reheating a 20cm long piece of bread freshly baked in the oven, the two nice owners prepare every sandwich on the spot. They are very generous with the stuffing so beware: after eating a panino by Master Sandwich you will feel super-stuffed and will probably need an energizing nap!
Beyond sandwiches, you can also make your own salad by combining different kinds of green salad together with 4-5 other ingredients of your choice.
Master Sandwich is one of my top options for lunch break in the city center, especially during the sunny, warm days in spring and summer. I grab a panino (I especially love their handmade tuna and mayo sauce) and enjoy it on a bench either in Piazza Castello or inside Giardini Reali (also called by fellow spotter Chiara The King's Backyard).
