Honestly, I don’t know how Bao Bei wasn’t one of my first posts. I’ve been a client of theirs for years now, so allow me to introduce you to one of the finest modern Chinese restaurants in Vancouver.
With its vintage, classy décor, Bao Bei is the perfect setting for both group gatherings and romantic dinners. Their bar is very unique; I definitely recommend you try one of their signature cocktails or go with one of their sakes with dinner. It is amazing how well sake pairs with the food menu.
Come to dinner if you’re a fan of sharing, it’s really nice to get a taste of several different items. My personal favorites are as follows: the marinated eggplant and the bean curd skin in the “schnacks” section, then anything --but hopefully everything-- from the “Petit Cadeaux”. You do not want to leave Bao Bei without trying their handmade dumplings! And finally, the mantou (pork bun sandwich) and sticky rice cakes from the “Petit Plats Chinois”.
They don’t take reservations, but there are several bars in the area, so leave your name, and have a cocktail elsewhere while you wait. It is absolutely worth it.
