A popular but out-of-the-way park, Rocky Point Park and its surroundings are a gathering place for families, friends, and couples alike. Its large grassy fields on the waterfront invite people to relax, have picnics, or do art together. Another draw is the popular Shoreline trail around the waterfront, a leisurely two-hour hike that is manageable for most able-bodied people. Other amenities include a skate park, a pool, a spray park, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and picnic shelters.
You won't go hungry here either - after your walk or relaxing by the waterfront, you can head to one or more of the five local breweries for fish and chips at Pajos, for various cuisines at a rotation of food trucks, or for scoops of ice cream at Rocky Point Ice cream. The choice is yours.
If you enjoy wildlife spotting, make sure to head out to the waterfront and dock. If you are lucky at high tide, you can spot hungry seals here waiting for fishing boats to come in! If you visit at low tide you can see the mudflats which host many birds.
Getting here is easy as there is a skytrain station a five-minute walk away over the bridge. It gets very busy on sunny days and parking is hard to find.
My recommendation for a perfect day here is to do the shoreline trail for as long as you want, then come back for lunch and finish off with some local beers.
