I have lived around the corner of CigköfteM for almost three years and never thought of trying it until a friend recommended it. I was very surprised because it was unlike anything I had ever tried.
The dish “cig köfte” is a Turkish dish. It is a paste made of wheat, tomato paste, ground chili peppers, and several different herbs. They offer the paste in two versions - spicy and less spicy. So, if you are not into spicy food, this is not for you, but for all the rest of you, it is a must-try.
Of course, you don’t eat the paste by itself. The classic serving option is a wrap – with fresh salad, fresh mint leaves and a dressing made of pomegranate juice. There is also the boxed version for two or more people, which is like a do-it-yourself kit. You take a piece of “lavas” flatbread or a piece of iceberg lettuce and put a piece of the paste and the rest of the ingredients in it – et voila, you've got yourself a delicious bite.
