These open bookcases can be found at three spots in Vienna (see the website for other locations!). The concept: go there, have a look, take what you think you need to read and enjoy / bring it back / take more back than you got in the first place.
Why do I like this? Because books weren’t made to stand on the same shelf for their whole “lifetime”. The way I see it, it’s best to share what you think is great. And even if you happen to not like or understand a book, maybe someone else will – so why not give it away?!
Since the contents change permanently, it can’t be said how many books one might find in English, Turkish, Chinese, Arabic or Esperanto. In case you are looking for a specific book, better try the main public library. Everybody else: experience the unknown ~ happy reading!
PS: An interesting new feature is Die Brauchbar just around the corner. Here you are welcome to leave things you no longer need but which are still in working order, or take stuff away if it appeals to you.
