My favorite way to spend a Sunday morning is to go down to the Dupont Circle Freshfarm market. The market, one of the biggest farmers markets in DC offers a great selection of produce, dairy, meats, baked goods and prepared foods from a number of local vendors.

I recommend you get a cup of coffee in the area, and then walk around taking it all in before purchasing anything. There are also plenty of opportunities to sample – taste some cheese, local pickles, bread before you decide what you want to take. I especially enjoy when the farm has local chefs performing demonstrations (and of course handing out free samples after that).

While you are there, get yourself an empanada; enjoy a freshly made , or even a fresh made pizza!

All the visitors I have taken here enjoy the experience of this neighborhood/local event. It’s great fun just to wander around, and there is nothing like a market full of fresh, local foods, great music, and happy faces on a sunny weekend morning. Definitely not to be missed.
