In the heart of Zagreb, just a few hundred meters from Ban Jelačić Square, there is a small, upscale shopping mall called Kaptol Centar. Inside, there is a cinema complex called Kaptol Boutique Cinema, owned by Cinestar. There are 5 cinema auditoriums, which are not all the same; some have the standard “cinema look”, while others are more like cafes, with two seats coupled together, and a little table with a lamp for each seat. This kind of arrangement is really appropriate for couples in love.
Kaptol Boutique Cinema offers mostly mainstream Hollywood movies, but also European movies, Croatian movies and it also hosts Zagreb Dox – a festival of documentary films. So, everyone can find something for themselves. Just like any other cinema, at the entrance you can buy snacks and drinks to complete your viewing experience. Kaptol Centar has an underground parking and the 3 hours are free of charge for cinema goers.
The only drawback, in my opinion, is that it is not possible to make a reservation for the tickets, they can, however, be bought online in advance. And despite its central location, the cinema is very rarely crowded. There are many special offers, too: matinees, cheaper tickets on Mondays, ladies’ nights...
If you don’t speak Croatian, don’t worry: the movies are all in original language (except cartoons) with Croatian subtitles.
This is my favorite cinema in Zagreb because I can easily combine going to the movies and enjoying the rest of the evening in the heart of Zagreb.
