You will find a lot of design and gift shops simply by casually strolling along the main routes in the city centre of Zagreb; in recent years, there has been a real boom in the field of quality souvenir shops. However, Đorđićeva street, though in the centre, is not on the main tourist routes and can easily be overlooked. Therefore I would like to draw attention to an enchanting shop in this quiet street: Petras atelier.

The offer of Petras atelier is based on the artworks by Đurđica and Petra Horvat, a creative mother and daughter duo, who make imaginative artifacts of ceramic and glass, as well as jewelry. Đurđica Horvat is an acknowledged, award-winning sculptor, who studied in the class of the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Kožarić, and Petra is an economist by profession, who started to run this atelier in 2012. The shop also showcases other local artists, some of which sell their handcrafted items exclusively in Petras atelier. Unique, unusual jewelry, T-shirts with original prints and other clothes, bags, and ceramic items are some of the lovely goodies you can buy here.

I like to drop by every now and then, and check out these delightful, exquisite artifacts, whether I’m looking for an original gift, or just browsing for pleasure. The offer is frequently refreshed with new treasures. The ambient is warm and cozy, and it’s always a pleasure to talk with Petra who gladly explains the story behind each item.
