As I mentioned in the article about the Mexican street food bistro Taquitos Bandidos, sometimes it feels like choices are limited when it comes to street food options in Zagreb. That's why each new spot that opens up and presents a slightly different approach is a joy - and more so OAZA Joyful Kitchen. It's all vegan and neither super expensive nor pretentious at all!
Joyful Kitchen is a mixture of bistro and street food since there is plenty of space to sit inside a light-filled area of this vegan fast food restaurant. There is also more seating area outside on the pebble stoned Radićeva street which leads right to Zagreb's main square.
Healthy fast food? Hell yes! You can choose between wraps, woks, salads, sandwiches and daily options and the menu is just the size that doesn't overwhelm you with the number of options. Need I even mention that the food is delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant peaceful and relaxing?
Why I particularly enjoy writing about this place is because I love the background story of its opening. Joyful kitchen is a recently opened social enterprise run by a local NGO that teaches sustainable living to children and youth in Zagreb.
Opening a restaurant in the center of Zagreb that truly promotes sustainability itself - being vegan, using biodegradable packaging and run as a social enterprise - is a big step in promoting those values to the Croatian public.
