Sometimes when you move to a new country, simple things can cause a bit of confusion. I was on the hunt for a birthday card and although it seems silly, I was at a bit of a loss because they don't seem to be sold in the same places as where I buy them in Canada, like the supermarket.
At the top of my Google search for where to buy greeting cards in Madrid was Nest Boutique, so I made my way to the colourful Malasaña neighbourhood to check out what they had on offer. Whether I found a card here or not, I loved this store before I even entered it. The gorgeous teal storefront is adorned with white flowers, brightening up the plaza beautifully. I knew if the outside looked like that, they would be selling amazing things inside, and my wallet would definitely be in trouble.
Opened in 2008, Nest Boutique specializes in unique greeting cards, stationery, and decorative paper but also sells a wonderful collection of jewelry, accessories, and home decor. They source items locally as well as from around the world, and they even make their own items. While it's much nicer to browse and shop in their lovely store, they also offer online shopping.
If you are looking for a great gift, you are sure to find something at Nest Boutique. You will also find plenty of gifts for yourself. I found my card there, but am still thinking about the David Bowie glass coasters.
