Loretta bar Munich
Not only for early birds
There are a lot of fab things about the Loretta. One is that it opens at 7 in the morning with staff always being in a good mood. I discovered the cafe when cycling past very early one morning noticing how busy it already was. Now I often go there with a couple of friends before work for a tea and a quick breakfast to start my day. They do great Italian sandwiches plus other small dishes and have an outstanding selection of papers and magazines. It is also a good place to meet friends for a drink early in the evening.
My favourite thing about the Loretta, however, is the fact they serve a small dish called "Two eggs in a glass" which is featured in the famous German children's novel "Emil and the Detectives" by Erich Kästner, who lived and died in Munich. When I was a little girl I always wanted to try the dish and the Loretta was in fact the first and only place I ever came across it. I am almost certain Erich Kästner would have also liked this place very much.
Additional note: my husband who just read through this article suggested that I mention they also do one of Munich's best latte macchiatos (I am a tea addict).
