Alladins Notenhoek may seem like a weird tip: Why would you wanna buy nuts in Amsterdam? Honestly, I understand but you have to know, this shop is famous. And the owners are one of the nicest people you will ever meet. The owners are a couple and they worked in different places until the husband found out that his parents, the former owners, wanted to retire and had no one to take over. So they did! He told me once that he already helped his parents in the shop when he was just a little boy (so in the 1970s).
The couple knows everybody from the neighborhood. When I come here, they always wave to at least 3 different people that walk by. ''Sometimes people come in for a chat, not even to buy something and that is totally okay! I say hello and offer them coffee.''
But not only are they nice: their nuts are the best! Literally, they came third in the 2011 'Best nut' competition. And our former Queen even bought her nuts here! Sometimes they get orders from former customers that moved to Denmark or Dubai, that order nuts for 100 euros.
So if you go here: Have a chat and enjoy the best nuts!
