I know, there's already lots of cinemas in our list of favourite spots, so why another one? Well, Cinecenter offers something very special that will hopefully be an example for other cinemas: the Expat cinema! Dutch cinemas usually show movies in their original language with Dutch subtitles... but what if you don't speak Dutch but are still dying to watch the latest arthouse movie from France, Italy, Iran, etc? Expat cinema shows it with English subtitles -- it's as simple as that :). Cinecenter started with two Expat cinema nights per month but I hope this thing will grow!
Apart from that, Cinecenter is a very nice venue specialised in arthouse movies plus interesting series featuring a certain actor, director or theme. It has 4 showrooms that are rather cosy, with the smallest feeling like a living room. The bar offers excellent coffee and a good choice of beers, at moderate prices... furthermore, this cinema is in the VERY center of town, round the corner of Leidseplein.
