If you love old books, maps, and the unique charm of antiquarian treasures you find in an antiquarian bookshop, this one is for you: Kok Antiquariaat — an antiquarian bookshop in the centre of the city.
This family-run business, passed down through generations since 1946, is a true gem for collectors and curious minds alike. The space is huge, and the collections hold about 70.000 books! I can spend hours in this shop, browsing through the rows of books, and my favourite are the old botanical atlases.
Beyond books, they sell historical topographic maps, vintage prints, and old magazines. A beautifully aged map of Amsterdam or a nostalgic postcard makes for a meaningful souvenir or a thoughtful gift for someone who loves the city. Antique objects like old-world globes and typewriters decorate the shop, contributing to the special atmosphere – a perfect retreat for anyone drawn to the stories of the past.
