Louie Louie is possibly my favourite bar in Amsterdam East because of the good vibes, drinks and food, and clearly a lot of other people feel the same, because it's always busy. Especially in the spring and summer when the weather is (hopefully) a bit better, the big terrace is great for sitting out in the sun. And in the evening, just when you start to get chilly, the heaters come on, which is why it's a late night favourite in the neighbourhood.
The drinks menu is really good, in particular the pitchers of sangria (white or red), the passion fruit mojito, and the selection of gin and tonics. The food menu is street food inspired, with lots of small dishes that are perfect to share. Things like chilly cheese fries, tacos, quesedillas, and beef short ribs are the perfect snack to accompany your drinks. They also have pretty good vegetarian and even vegan options. During the day they serve lunch and good (iced) coffees.
They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait on weekends, or cozy up with the locals and share a picnic style table outside. Gezellig!
