Big cities in Belgium and the Netherlands have this thing going on: where can you get the best French Fries? Impossible to answer, of course, since it's a matter of personal taste in the end, but here's my very personal favourite :). At Pont Neuf, you can taste the REAL potato, organic and freshly cut every day. They are cut rather thick and then fried in a way where they are crunchy on the outside and chewy (but well done) inside. Apart from the usual ketchup and mayonnaise, they also offer their own sauce creations -- you should definitely try 'samurai', a kind of spicy mayonnaise!
And there's another reason why I chose this spot: Pont Neuf is, in a way, the port to an upcoming neighbourhood, the North side of the water. It's the part of town that used to be 'on the wrong side' for centuries, but is now getting more popular every day. It's also 'my' part of town and I love to get my warm welcome at Pont Neuf after a tiring trip to the center ;). As an extra service in Corona times, they started selling mouth masks which are obligatory on the ferry...
