Experimenting with food and doing it well is not easy. But Ron Blaauw is one of the best chefs of The Netherlands. He has several restaurants throughout the country. One of his latest successes are the different ‘gastrobars’. They all have a different style, from food and decoration to wines and art. On Kerkstraat in Amsterdam, you will find the Oriental style, mainly focused on Chinese or derivatives of the Chinese kitchen.
He really blends lots of different cooking styles and tastes with the original cuisine. It is really hard to explain all the different smells and experiences you have when you eat at this place. And there are so many different, small dishes. You do not want to stop eating. Ever. It is all very good and extremely exciting. Every time you receive a new plate you get excited just by looking at it.
If you feel like something a little more fancy and are in for some experimental, but still super-tasty food, give this place a try. If you fancy a different style, I will write about those as well. There are different gastrobars around the city…
