Cool name, long lines, amazing food. That’s Staring at Jacob in a nutshell. If you are hungry and want food straight away… do NOT come here. You will very likely have to wait in line for a long time. But if you accept this and can wait for some amazing food and a cool, kind-of-hipster, atmosphere, you really need to visit Staring at Jacob. When the weather is nice you can sit outside, next to ‘the Jacob van Lennep kanaal’.
If you Google it, it says New York-style brunch & bar. Sadly, I have never been to New York. Yet. But if this is a taste of it, I really need to go. My favorite dish here is the chicken waffles, which already sounds very American. And it is finger-licking good. They also serve several sides/addons.
I like spicy. Really spicy. And they have a sauce made from Madame Jeanette’s. For me it was such a surprise that they serve something this spicy in a place in Amsterdam. That the reason I love this place is probably more this sauce than anything else.
Visit this place if you have time for a slow lunch/ brunch and want to indulge in some really nice food.
