Techno music has gained popularity in the last few years. As an older techno lover, De Westergas or Gashouder has always been one of my favorite techno places. Next to Tresor and Berghain in Berlin, this is THE techno temple of Amsterdam.
The building is circular. And it’s huge. When you’re inside it feels like you’re trapped and free at the same time. The weirdest thing is, that it is really easy to get lost. The hardest part, at least for the event organizers, is to get the acoustics right. I remember that I was there about 15 years ago and there was a lot of echo in certain areas. But now, 15 years later, the sound is really amazing.
If you are not into techno and still want to visit this cool building, check out what else they have going on. I know they host lots of different styles and events -- I just never went there for anything else than a good old techno party.
Have fun and let the music guide you!
