Is Latraac a cool place? No doubt, Latraac is a cool place. They know what is important for them and they put it in value, sure: skateboarding is the center of this space. So I wouldn't be wrong if I called it a “skate park with a small coffee area” or a “coffee area with a big skatepark”. I like this place because it's full of life and it's perfect to drink a coffee or have a nice little brunch under the sun in wintery Athens.
I live very close to it and I have to say that having this place is great news for all of us. On one hand, they use a very nice space that otherwise would have been used to build apartments that would help the neighbourhood become more gentrified. On the other, they are encouraging young people to do sport, giving them great options to spend their free time. For those reasons I love drinking my coffee there as it's a simple way to help them cover their expenses.
In summer they usually organise screenings and some other cultural events. Another great reason to pass by.

There are always dishes of the day in addition to the set menu, so no two visits to Mandragoras are ever the same. And kontosouvli is always available.

Every time I cross Evripidou Street, I am overwhelmed by the aroma of cinnamon, pepper, and oregano, and images of Eastern bazaars come to mind.

My two favorites are Sfakianopita with honey and the famous Dakos. Every plate is cooked in olive oil with lots of rosemary.
