Materia Prima is located in the beautiful area of Koukaki (this area was voted as one of the best neighborhoods in Europe!), it is situated only 300 meters from Syggrou Fix Metro Station and almost opposite EMST — the museum of Modern Art.
At Materia Prima, you can taste and learn about wines from Greece, like the famous Xinomavro or Malagouzia. But also you can taste wines from other wine regions around the globe and discover their secrets. The last time I visited, I tasted a very special wine from Armenia, and that made me really happy!
Together with your wine, you can also taste their tapas, like bread with olive oil and oregano or salad with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. My dearest one is the sweet potatoes with gorgonzola cheese and small pieces of pear.
Materia Prima also works as a wine cellar, meaning you can purchase your bottles of choice at cellar prices and enjoy them at your place of preference or even outside in the many open spaces of Athens.
Michalis, the owner of the wine bar, is always smiling and really helpful. He always answers all the questions you might have and helps you choose your ideal wine.
Enjoy!
