Baby Jalebi is a recently-opened spot located just a few minutes on foot from Plaza España. Its name comes from a shiny twisted orange Pakistani sweet, and I do not need to tell you what type of food is served there! The founders are owners of another well known chain of restaurants in Barcelona, but as they have Pakistani origin, they had always wanted to have a restaurant of their own culture. But having lived in Barcelona for more than 25 years, they opted to do it a bit their way by making a not-so-extensive menu (as typical restaurants often offer) by offering alcohol (delicious tap beer, by the way, round and cold!), and by making it colorful and lots of fun (they have fun phrases that people from Pakistan say when living here and who already are a part of the culture of the great Barcelona).
As for the food, it's mind-blowing in flavour and texture, and we could not forget to mention the great service the guys provide - always available and explaining the particularities of the dishes if needed. I ordered lamb in curry sauce with rice and for dessert a fried ball with agave and ice cream that was incredible.
Worth going - they also offer a day menu for 10 euros on weekdays!
