Dorćol platz is my favorite event venue in Belgrade. It is located in lower Dorćol in a restored area of the former socialist company occupying around 1600 sq.m.
Dorćol platz is a meeting place for everyone committed to cultural and social change. The space gives out an urban, industrial appearance and is excellent for organizing events such as exhibitions, performances, workshops as well as numerous concerts.
Since I usually wander around the city during weekends, Dorćol Platz is always on my regular route. One of the reasons is that you can drop by alone or with friends -- you'll feel much welcome.
In the evening and during the weekends, it turns into an art and festival zone. There's always something happening — from craft beer or flower festivals, concerts by local bands or poetry nights to hand-made galleries, environmental talks or an LP stock market. The first edition of the chocolate festival and the childhood festival in Belgrade were also held here.
They always tend to bring new things closer to people and deal with prejudices, so I got a better insight into vegan options at the food festivals, even though Serbia is not a perfect country for people who don't eat meat.
The space is primarily intended for all cultural, entertaining and educational content, and throughout the day there is also a cafe, with a lovely garden, decorated with graffiti art, and I often come by for a glass of beer.
