Despite sitting on more than 30 hills, at first glance, Belgrade doesn't seem to have many good viewpoints, or rather, not many of them are accessible or maintained. Because of this, I'm always happy to find new neighborhoods to explore, especially when climbing a hill rewards you with a nice view.
Vidikovac Bežanijska kosa is a park nestled basically on a cliff above New Belgrade at the start of Bežanijska kosa neighborhood. It is very much a local park, frequented by families living in the nearby row houses resembling some neat Western suburb. Getting to the park from New Belgrade is an adventure in itself, as it is accessible by steep stairs hugging the entrance to a train tunnel or via an unmarked path through the woods. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a great view over the blocks of New Belgrade and the city beyond. So, if you are a lover of brutalist architecture and are looking for a place to sit down on the grass and look over the concrete jungle that is New Belgrade, look no further.
For those who have a need for a caffeine break after some urban exploring, there are a couple of cafes to the side of the park, which make the most of the cool views.
