Looking for a proverbial majestetic park where history comes alive? In the heart of the beautiful district of Charlottenburg you will find this gem, which is just perfect for your next picnic, or extended walks under some of the oldest trees in Berlin. The Schlosspark breathes history, as it is home to the incredibly impressing Schloss Charlottenburg, a castle initially built for Queen Luise over a period of almost a hundred years.
Whenever I like to escape the noises of the city, I come here and enjoy the sublime silence that this parks offers its visitors. Located right by the river Spree, it makes for beautiful and relaxing afternoon walks among an amazing range of flowers and trees. Stop by the central lake to feed some ducks or swans, sit on one of the benches that offer shade and great views, or just enjoy yourself exploring this very well looked after park. It also makes for a perfect biking tour, as you can follow the paths along the river either to Tiergarten or to Spandau.
The Schloss itself is a sight to behold and hosts an impressive art exposition, besides the fact that the building is pure art itself. Around Christmas, you will find one of Berlin's most amazing markets in front of the Schloss. There is nothing better than to just sit on the border of the river in this park and watch the sun set. If you come to Berlin, this park definitely deserves a visit.
