Attention tea aficionados: Tea Nirvana is waiting for you in Bern! And I don't necessarily mean the Länggass-Tee-shop at street level. Of course, the antique flair of the shop and the room filled with an intense aroma of hundreds of teas has its own charm. But the real Nirvana can be found one floor above.
On the first visit, it might take some courage to walk straight past the counter and climb the creaking winding staircase in the corner. There is no sign that allows you to do so, and the noise of your steps won’t be unnoticed. But believe me: it's meant this way!
On the top floor, you will always find many deeply relaxed people chatting and zipping tea. The family-run Länggasstee in the university neighbourhood has been an institution around Bern since the early 1980s. The tea collection is spectacular.
Personally, I'm more of a coffee type and just occasionally drop by for a cuppa. I always make sure to reserve my table ahead, especially for the popular high tea or breakfast sessions on weekends. If I have no reservation, I try my luck anyway. For spontaneous visitors, I recommend ordering the degustation set (4 teas of your choice for a very reasonable price) and some scones. Cheers.
Pro tip: If you are very serious about tea - ask for their rarities room, tea ceremonies, tea seminars or even tea travels to Asia.

Nature is claiming back the city - a powerful image. The mural was painted by Paul Stämpfli in 1987, way before the world was discussing climate change.
