Monbijoupark is a green oasis in the middle of the city of Bern. Thanks to its location right next to the tram stop, it can be easily reached by public transport, but also on foot in just a few minutes from the main railway station. The extensive greenfield not only offers space for a relaxed lunch, but also for a Sunday picnic, sunny reading hours or a walk with the dog. The mighty trees offer you protection from the sun or rain. If you prefer to sit at a table instead of the grass, you can also use the picnic tables. There is also a playground where children can spend their time.
Those who want to get something to eat on the way to the park will get their money's worth for example at Namaste India, which is right next to Monbijoupark. If you like to prepare food by yourself, feel free to use the public barbecue areas to have dinner or lunch with your friends or all by your own.
Personally, I love to have lunch and relax in the park. The combination of good weather, friends or work colleagues and nature provides a good break from work or lectures. The only problem: I don't want to stop lying in the sun and chatting :) If we still haven't had enough of the park, we buy a so-called "Fübi" (a mix of "knocking-off time" and "beer" in Swiss German) after work and enjoy the evening mood lying on the grass.
