Schwellenmätteli Restaurant is not an unknown place. It's too pretty not to be famous. The restaurant rises above the green waves of the Aare River near the Marzili. In summer you can make yourself comfortable on the terrace and listen to the sound of the water. The interior of the restaurant is also worth seeing -- it is beautiful and inviting. The food is quite expensive but quite delicious and the location is unique. Sitting at the window front towards the city, you can even have a look at the Münster cathedral.
Schwellenmätteli Restaurant offers a Sunday brunch that is worth trying. For 55 francs you can serve yourself at the large buffet: fresh bread, salmon, antipasti, birchermüsli, scrambled eggs, sweet pastries and so much more. Here you can find everything your heart desires. No wonder -- I prefer to eat breakfast in Schwellenmätteli Restaurant. Having filled up your belly, you can take a relaxing walk along the Aare River. That's what I call a perfect Sunday!
Next to the terrace of Schellenmätteli Restaurant, there is another restaurant called Ristorante Casa. It belongs to the same owners but offers another variety of food. Focused on Italian cuisine, they serve the dishes in a more rustic ambience.

Nature is claiming back the city - a powerful image. The mural was painted by Paul Stämpfli in 1987, way before the world was discussing climate change.
