When I was a kid, weekend breakfasts for my family always consisted of bagels and schmear. My dad would pick up a baker’s dozen of carby delights and a couple tubs of cream cheese, and my siblings and I would fight to get to the bag before the good flavors were gone (Cinnamon Raisin? Yes please!). I’ve carried my love of bagels with me into adulthood, and am always on the lookout for the perfect bagel joint. Cambridge’s Bagelsaurus is pretty darn close.
Bagelsaurus is about a 15-minute drive from my apartment, depending on traffic, but it’s worth it every time. There’s often a line, a testament to their product’s tastiness, but as long as you skip the weekend rush, the queue moves pretty quickly. You really can’t go wrong with any of Bagelsaurus’ classic bagels - they’re all soft, warm, and perfectly flavored - but I personally recommend their sea salt bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese.
If you’re more of a breakfast sandwich person, you can’t go wrong with their classic jumbo - cheddar, egg, and mustard butter on a bagel of your choosing. Pair it with a hot coffee, and maybe buy yourself a Bagelsaurus hoodie while you’re there to face the chilly autumn in cozy, carby style.
