Cabaret Mademoiselle is one of the latest additions to the Brussels nightlife. This burlesque bar is smack bang in the middle of the LGBTQ district and is run by the performers themselves.
Don’t, however, imagine for one second that this is a seedy place or that it caters only for the LGBTQ circle. On the contrary, every time I have been there, I have always been amongst a young, hip crowd that cheers the drag queens good-naturedly during the half-hourly shows. The performances are very interactive, entertaining and funny. You can tell that the artists put a lot passion in them and enjoy the show. This translates into a unique, cheeky and good-humoured interplay with the audience!
My favourites are La Veuve, who comes on stage complete with a well-trimmed beard and Loulou Velvet, whose sexy contours make my partner envious! And boy, you should see the dresses these drag queens put on and how they carry them!
Entry to the Cabaret is free, though the performers do come around the crowd for a well-deserved collection half-way through the evening.
